Wendy's XTERRA Pocono Trail Series

Website: Here

The Pocono Xterra Series returns in 2014 with a new half marathon and new distance options for runners at our three most popular events. The season begins Saturday May 3 on top of Camelback Mountain. Runners get to chose from our traditional 3.4 mile short-course or a new 7.1 mile long course that drops over 600 rocky vertical feet into the valley behind Camelback Mountain.

Hickory Run State Park will host a new half marathon event on Saturday May 24. The new course reaches down to the Lehigh River and crosses Hickory Run twice before running past the waterfalls and rhododendron tunnels that have made this course incredibly popular with runners all throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Athletes seeking a shorter run can race the traditional 7-mile course. Free bar-b-que for all finishers! NOTE: This is Memorial Day weekend! The park is full of activities, has loads of camping, and there will be a white-water release on the Lehigh River for people who want a little more action after the race. Make your campground reservations early!

The fast and furious Xterra Seven Tubs run will be on June 7. The course remains unchanged and in some ways is the most difficult run of the series. It is extremely technical, very steep, and has multiple stream crossings. We keep the distance at just under 5K so there is never a chance to slow down!

The 2014 Xterra Series will wrap up with the Earth Conservancy Half Marathon on June 21. Participants always remember the first mile with its 800-foot vertical climb and spectacular views of the Susquehanna River. New this year is a shorter and easier 7-mile loop.

VRC Also Suggests: Pa Grand Canyon Marathon/Half
