Race Background:
If I can only pick one word that describes Mason it is “Hope”. Mason Barto is the son of Mindy (Kerrick) and Donnie Barto of Towanda and has been battling medical problems since birth. Mason has congenital disorder of glycosylation (CDG) which causes malfunction of different organ systems. This disease has affected Mason’s blood, muscles, heart, bones and every organ in Mason’s body. In addition to CDG, Mason has been diagnosed with 10+ diseases. There is no cure for Mason and over the years the family has incurred extraordinary medical costs.

To know Mason is to love him. Mason is a fighter and has defied odds even his doctors can’t understand. Even though every day presents its own struggle, Mason continues to stay positive. He is truly a gift and his strength continues to be an inspiration to those around him. In June, Mason turned 13 years old.
